I Stand for Help was founded on a simple yet powerful belief: that no one should have to face life’s challenges alone—especially when starting over in a new country.
This ministry was born out of the heart and life of Yirdachew A. Negash, a man whose very name in Amharic—“Help Them”—has served as a prophetic calling over his journey. Raised in Ethiopia, Yirdachew carried a deep compassion for others from a young age. His heart for service only grew stronger as he witnessed the struggles of those around him and later experienced the hardship of adjusting to life in the United States himself.
Moved by faith and guided by his personal experience, Yirdachew founded I Stand for Help International Ministry as an act of obedience to God’s call. With the mission to “Serve God by Serving Others,” this ministry reaches out to newcomers—especially within the Christian community—offering both practical help and spiritual support.
Through this ministry, new arrivals are welcomed with kindness, provided with essential household items, helped in finding temporary housing, and offered the hope and encouragement found in God's Word. The goal is not only to help people begin a new life but also to nourish their souls with the truth of the gospel and the love of Christ.
Inspired by 2 Corinthians 9:12–14 and Matthew 25:40, Yirdachew’s life and leadership reflect a passion for helping “the least of these” through both action and faith. His story is one of compassion, perseverance, and a deep commitment to extending God’s love in practical and powerful ways.
At I Stand for Help, we continue to follow that example—helping with life, and nourishing the soul with God’s Word.
